چکیده
Background/Aim. The gold standard in treating the advanced ovarian cancer (AOC) is primary debulking surgery (PDS) followed by platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy. In AOC, extent of tumor resection (residual volume) most important prognostic factor for overall survival (OS) and progression-free (PFS). Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) interval (IDS) an experimental treatment introduced clinical practice order to improve cytoreduction rate prolong survival. aim this study was compare NACT+IDS PDS patients with AOC. Methods. This retrospective cohort included separated into two groups. first group treated had 59 patients, while second group, NACT + IDS, 33 patients. Results. A lower suboptimal (39.39%) found IDS than (57.63%). percentage complete higher (51.52%) those (38.98%). Nevertheless, median OS PFS were not significantly different between groups (p < 0.05). 35 months 31 groups, respectively. 16 19 group. Conclusion. Despite optimal after NACT+ method better PDS. decision either or should be tailored individual patient.

Retrospective Study Comparing Primary Debulking Surgery (PDS) with Adjuvant Chemotherapy vs. Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT) Followed by Interval Debulking Surgery (IDS) with Adjuvant Chemotherapy in Advanced Carcinoma Ovary
Introduction: Ovarian carcinoma is the major cause of mortality among women with gynecological problems as its reported very late. We have evaluated and compared two modalities of treatment for advanced (stage III and selected stage IV) ovarian cancer, done at our hospital from January 2003 to June 2010 and also analyzed patient, tumour, and treatment related variables. Materials and Methods: R...

OBJECTIVE To assess whether neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is superior to primary debulking surgery (PDS) with regard to optimal cytoreduction, peri-operative morbidity, mortality, and quality of life (QOL) in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). METHODS We searched the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, Registers of Clinical Trials for rando...

OBJECTIVE The aim of the present study was to investigate the surgical complexity, the postoperative morbidity, and the survival of the women after primary debulking surgery (PDS) and neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery (NACT-IDS) for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS We consecutively included all patients who underwent debulking surgery at ...

Objective We aimed to performed a meta-analysis and systematic review on the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by interval debulking surgery (NACT-IDS) in advanced ovarian cancer (AOC) patients. Materials and Methods We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library for relevant articles. All statistical analyses were performed in Review Manager 5.3.5. Results In two randomized c...
متن کاملNeoadjuvant chemotherapy versus primary surgery in advanced ovarian carcinoma
BACKGROUND Patients with advanced ovarian cancer should be treated by radical debulking surgery aiming at complete tumor resection. Unfortunately about 70% of the patients present with advanced disease, when optimal debulking can not be obtained, and therefore these patients gain little benefit from surgery. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) has been proposed as a novel therapeutic approach in su...
